It’s never too early to talk about the NHL Draft, which just happens to be right around the corner at the end of July. The Flyers have many holes to fill throughout their system, to include Right-Handed Defense and a sniper, just to name a few. So who might be on the Flyers radar in round one, well how about a Left Handed Defenseman that can play the right side in Carson Lambos, “I play a mature game,” Lambos said. “I take pride in my play in the defensive zone, and I can make plays in the offensive zone. I can play a quiet game against the other team’s top line but if I have offensive opportunities, I’ll take the opportunities, as well.”

Lambos was born on January 14, 2003 in Winnipeg, MB, CAN. This native of Canada found a passion, and a love for the sport of hockey practically from birth, and as a matter of fact I’m sure he started skating when he was just two-three years old. His passion for the game found himself playing for the Liiga League in Finland (Third or fourth toughest league in the World), and U20 SM-Sarja in Finland where he amassed two goals and nine assists in 13 games played. It was a bit of a weird season due to Covid, but he fought through it and managed to play in two games for the Winnipeg Ice, as well, “I liked the challenge of playing in a tough league. With the league being postponed, I wanted to have the opportunity to play games and develop my game,” Lambos said with playing in a tough Liiga league. “It will also help me become a better player in the future.”

Lambos is excellent on the ice, but what is not known to many people is Lambos’s Grandfather started a business called the Dairy Wip in Winnipeg. It just so happens that a cheeseburger in Carson Lambos’s favorite food, “My Grandfather started a business called the Dairy Wip here in Winnipeg,” Lambos said. “Now my Uncle runs it, and cheeseburgers are my favorite food (Laughing).”

“Jake Muzzin is someone who I compare myself to at the NHL level. He plays against the other team’s best players on a lot of nights. He may not always be flashy but he makes good plays, and he plays hard.”– Carson Lambos on who he molds his game after

This young 18-year-old prospect in Lambos is a speedster, physical, and transitions like the breeze of the wind. If not for his injury he would be selected in the top ten. Moreover, Lambos doesn’t sit around puck watching, has a killer wrist shot, and a darn good pair of hands. He’s a good Penalty Killer, and has great vision of the ice. A good thing for the Flyers is he could play in a season or two like Cam York. He closes gaps well, and Lambos would provide the Flyers with some much needed size on the blueline as he stands at 6’1 and weighs a tough 201 pounds. Lambos can hit, win puck battles along the boards, is very good in his own zone, and is effective with transitioning out of the defensive zone.

This young prospect from Winnipeg really has opened some eyes, and showcased his skills enough to be selected by the Flyers with the 13th pick of the draft. He has the size and determination to make it at the Pro level. The Flyers are very familiar with the Winnipeg Ice, as Flyers prospect Connor McClennon plays for the Ice, “I’m just going to go out and do my best,” Lambos said as he finished the interview.
