Capitals double up for a 6-3 win over the Flyers, Wade Allison gets his first goal of his NHL career.

The Flyers were back at it in a busy weekend of tough matchups, today against the Capitals and tomorrow another tough one against the New York Islanders. A late scratch with goaltender Carter Hart, so Alex Lyon got the start today.

All aboard the “Wade-Train”

Everyone anticipated when the first goal would come for young star Wade Allison, and we didn’t wait long. Wade notched his first of his career on the Power Play to cut the score to 4-3, being down one. The young forward has a bright future ahead of him and fans are excited everywhere. Congrats to Wade Allison on the first on many. He said that he was shocked to even see Power Play time.

Lyon in for Carter Hart

A late scratch was added when Carter Hart couldn’t play today, and Alex Lyon filled in. Alex saved 35 shots on 40 attempts, not bad for jumping in last minute, but also not the great. A team like the Washington Capitals isn’t ever an easy one, especially for the third man up. Alex looked good at times, played strong, but with a sub-par defense in front of you allowing that many shots. It’s going to be difficult.

Can’t stop Ovi

What more can I say, Alex Ovechkin is one of the best to do it. He added two more goals and an assist and seems to be a “Flyer hunter” at this point. He is 35-years-old, and showing no signs of slowing down. Ovechkin continues to play at such a high level and who knows, maybe he will catch “The great one” in goals. Ovi does it again and plays a huge part in defeating the Flyers yet again. That’s five in a row against the orange and black.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
