Flyers bring down Avalanche

The Flyers have been playing very good hockey thus far, as they are nearing the holiday break. They won another nail biter last night against a good team, 1-0 against the Detroit Red Wings. Samuel Ersson registered his third career shutout in front of his family, his parents were in attendance for the first time ever to see him play in the NHL, “First time my family got to see me play in NHL, so I was happy to get the shutout,” Samuel Ersson said following the game.

It’s crazy to think, but the Flyers are on an eight game point streak right now (7-0-1). This includes wins against top tier opponents. They are yelling not only on the ice, but inside the locker room, as well. John Tortorella has said repeatedly that he likes the locker room this season, and Cam Atkinson said recently on 97.5 the Fanatic, that he thinks this is one of the funnest teams he’s ever played on.

The Flyers did beat the Washington Capitals in a shootout this past week, and they improved to 3-0 in the shootout for the season. The Flyers are currently second in the Metropolitan Division with 37 points (17-10-3 record). Moreover, this is impressive, as this is a rebuild season. They have had outstanding goal tinting from Carter Hart and most notably Samuel Ersson as of late, which maybe has sped up the rebuild to sone retrospect. Ersson has had to take the reins, as Hart has been out with an illness for the past few games.

In one of my previous articles, I asked the fans if it was too early to predict the playoffs? This is still the case in my eyes, teams haven’t even played half the season yet. There’s a lot that can still happen, and will happen for that matter.

Let’s see how will the orange and black will fare against the New Jersey Devils. I do believe the Flyers can beat them if they remain confident in one another.
