Chuck Fletcher promised that there would be some changes this offseason, and he has made true to that promise. Not just with trading for Rasmus Ristolainen or Ryan Ellis, but today he sends Jake Voracek back to Columbus for Cam Atkinson.

Atkinson is a finisher, this guy knows how to score goals and play the penalty kill as Fletcher said he wanted to improve yesterday.

“Still want to look at potentially adding some players that can help with the penalty kill up front and those are the types of discussions we’re having now. I don’t think we’ll be doing anything the rest of this weekend with respect to trades.”– Chuck Fletcher

Voracek was always honest in his interviews with the media. If the team played bad, he would tell you they played horribly. One thing for a check was known for was tallying 60 plus points per year in a normal season. He was tied for the team lead in points this past season with 43.

the new era begins with Atkinson. Atkinson tallied 15 goals and 19 assists this past season, and as mentioned above he knows how to finish. That is something that was missing this past season with the Flyers forwards, as they had many golden opportunities, but lacked the finish. How many times did Nolan Patrick shoot wide on an open net?

The Flyers essentially save approximately $2.4 million of cap space with this move. Fleet her is not done folks, as he now looks to shore up the Goaltending position. In Fletcher we trust.

  1. Finally a good, smart move by the Flyers. Voracek had to go. I also like the Risto trade much better than the trade for Ellis. To be able to get rid of Hagg was complete awesomeness.

Flyers fans negative reaction to the Risto trade and their praise of the Ellis trade proves two things about the majority of the Flyers fan base.

They don’t watch any other team but the Flyers.
    They are ignorant beyond belief.

The Risto trade is going to be more fruitful for the Flyers than the Ellis trade in the end.

    We need to resign Morin.
