There is no denying that the Flyers are in need of a sniper/goal scorer, and Flyers General Manager Chuck Fletcher has been on record saying that he would love to add a top six player. However, he did say it’s not realistic to add this need through trade or free agency due to the flat-cap, but there is one way to do it, add this piece through the draft.

When a sniper comes to mind I immediately think of Cole Perfetti, a young 18-year-old that stands at 5’10 and weighs 185 pounds. He is exactly the type of player Fletcher would love to add at the NHL Draft next week, and Perfetti could change the overall landscape of this team dramatically. One addition, yes the addition of Perfetti, a natural goal scorer, a young man who knows and is not afraid to shoot the puck, one that doesn’t hesitate to get to the greasy areas to score a goal. That’s what Perfetti provides, and believe it or not Fletcher could move up to snag his services. He has a stockpile of assets to do this, and now would be the perfect time to make such a move. Pundits have him slated to go anywhere from picks 4-9 in the first round of the 2020 NHL Draft.

“It is very exciting to be on the cusp of my childhood dream,” Perfetti said to me in an interview. “My entire family is looking forward to the draft and finding out where I will be playing in the future. When I began playing hockey there really was not a goal other than to have fun and get better.”

This young sniper will shoot the puck from anywhere on the ice. Perfetti is a sharpshooter that is highly accurate, with elite goal scoring abilities. He finished second in the OHL in scoring with 111 points in 61 games played for the Saginaw Spirit (37g,74a) this past season. Perfetti would easily slide into the top 6 for the Flyers, and he is a solid skater, “During this extended break due to COVID I have spent a lot of time working out and focusing on my skating,” Perfetti said. “I felt that was the most important thing for me to focus on. I feel bigger and stronger and my skating has really improved.”

Perfetti could use some work with his first step, but he is a solid skater nonetheless. He is addressing this minor issue through his hard-work ethic and dedication to the sport of hockey. Perfetti is an extremely good board battler, and is not afraid from shying away to score a greasy goal. He has a knack for the net and can provide a net front presence:

“I will do everything I can to help my team achieve the ultimate goal, which is to win the Stanley Cup. I am a hard worker who is dedicated to getting better everyday.”- Cole Perfetti

The Flyers could use this lethal Center/Left Winger…like asap (As soon as possible). Perfetti would be a dream for any franchise, and he could turn himself into a generational talent, yes he’s that good. He is a puck possession machine that has extremely good hands, and has acute vision of the ice. Perfetti can make something out of nothing in tight spaces, and that is an area of need for the Flyers.

He could help immensely on the Power Play, as Perfetti does not require much space to make a play, “Fans can expect a player that will work his hardest everyday, someone who is a good teammate and brings a consistency to the team that the coaches can rely on,” Perfetti says. “I will also try to make a difference in the community with charitable endeavours.”

There is one last thing about Perfetti Flyers fans. Why does Perfetti wear the number 91?:

“I loved a lot of different players but my favorite when I was younger was John Tavares, he is the reason I wear number 91.”- Cole Perfetti

Perfetti is a Goaltender’s nightmare, and he would look good donning an orange and black sweater.
