A tough game for the Flyers tonight as they come from behind to win in the shootout against the Eichel-less Buffalo Sabres. Let’s get into it!

Carter Hart

Hart was pulled after the first period. The Flyers starting goalie tonight was Carter Hart, getting the nod over Brian Elliott who has great success over the Sabres. Hart recently had a shutout against the Sabres and played extremely well, but that was not the case tonight. Unfortunately, Hart allowed three goals in the first period, on two goals to Sam Reinhart, and was pulled for the start of the second period. Flyers fans are starting to grow concern for the young goalie this season, patience will be a factor as Carter Hart is very young and has a very bright future.

JVR back on the score sheet

Well it was good to see JVR get back to doing what he had done all year, score a goal. It’s been three games since he scored a goal, his longest stretch of the season going scoreless thus far. A team where he has tremendous success playing against, netting 18 goals for his career against Buffalo which ties him for the most against a team. It will be important for the veteran to continue to keep playing well and steady as we make the push towards the end of the season.

The “Power-less Power Play”

A struggling Power Play unit once again, as the Flyers capitalize on only a quarter of their chances with the man advantage. Although, their lone Power Play goal was one to tie the game, a rocket from “the Ghost” to tie it up at four, late in the third. It’s good to see them score, but the Power Play has really struggled and will need to pick it up.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it
