Recently, the Flyers’ seem to have really liked to acquire gingers on the team. With Wade Allison, Owen Tippett, Cam York, Sean Couturier, and Patrick Brown, another addition to the ginger pool could be Jagger Firkus.

Firkus is a 2022 NHL draft prospect who currently plays for the Moose Jaw Warriors in the WHL. He is projected to go somewhere in the second-round of the draft. This season he has had an unbelievable year, putting up 33 goals, 42 assists for 75 points in 60 games played, leading his team in points and sitting tied for eighth in the entire WHL. A big jump from where he was last season.

After putting up elite numbers in his draft year, Firkus was selected to participate in the recent 2022 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game. Playing on team white, he notched a goal and an assist in the game and was named Team White’s player of the game.

The young 27-year-old in Firkus is known for his overall well-rounded game. He plays a strong game in front of the net and in the slot area where he can deflect shots and knock home rebounds. He also possesses a good, strong shot with a quick release from long-range. He does an adequate job of using defenseman as a screen and getting a shot past them. Firkus has crafty hands which has led him to become a great place. He does a good job at creating plays in front of the net for a scoring opportunity and also manipulating defenders.

Defensively, Firkus is a good positional player. He does well to use his stick to block the opposition from making a play. Like a lot of offensive-minded forwards, defense is still a work in progress for him.

I would love the Flyers to take a look at Firkus. They need more creative-minded forwards who really like to put the puck in the back of the net. If the Flyers want to score more goals, adding a guy like Firkus would be extremely helpful and he is very good in the slot. Most scouts project him to be a top-six forward in the NHL.
