One thing has become apparent after Saturday’s game between the Flyers and Anaheim Ducks. It’s that the guy who grew up in Southwest Philadelphia is loved by everyone, Lou Nolan.

Regardless of the score, yes the Flyers lost 5-3. This day was a special day starting at 10:15 when Lou Nolan had a press conference with the media. He was honored before the game for 50 years as a Public Address Announcer.

“He’s a great guy, best in the league,” Scott Laughton says of Lou Nolan. “He always makes people feel welcome. Always asks how my family is doing. Just a down to Earth guy.”

Laughton continues, “It’s going to be a great night celebrating a great human being.”

As Nolan said before the game, he’s just a guy from Southwest Philadelphia. He couldn’t have scripted this one any better. People just gravitate towards Nolan, whom always has a smile each and every time you see him.

Even a former player in Anthony Stolarz knew how special this moment was, and he talked and hugged Nolan following the game:

On one special night, the score wasn’t as important as it was for commemorating all that Lou has done for this organization, commemorating an icon and great individual that he is.

Bobby Brink

Brink inked a three-year-ELC with the Flyers yesterday. I do expect him to be at practice today, and possibly make his NHL Debut tomorrow against the Washington Capitals.
