First Period

Hartford all over Lehigh Valley to start the game. Wolf Pack had all the first 5 shots of the game and the 5th shot found twine. With an absolute snipe off the stick of Brett Berard, Petersen had no chance with the slick wrister at 5:59. After failing on their first power play opportunity, on the second chance Hartford found the back of the net. Alex Belzile extended the Wolf Pack lead with his second of the early season, firing home the rebound on the power play at 16:45. A late stick infraction, a tripping minor on Belzile would put the Phantoms on the man advantage for the remainder of the frame and into the 2nd. Shots on goal for the frame were 16-6 in favor of Hartford. Cal Petersen tested heavily, easily could’ve been 4-0 but he held the Wolf Pack to just two goals.

Second Period

Before the power play could really start it was over. Louie Belpedio canceled out the Phantoms’ man advantage with an interference penalty and would move to a penalty kill, that Lehigh Valley would crucially kill off. As they did to open the game Hartford had the first 4 shots of the frame. A lot of rough stuff in the period, Jordy Bellerive and Ryder Korczak each received misconduct for their play after the whistle. Olle Lycksell fired home the lone goal in the frame, his fourth in two nights a power play tally at 18:58 to put Lehigh Valley on the board. At 19:20 more post-whistle play ensued, Ronnie Attard received a double-minor for roughing and Matt Rempe received a minor for unsportsmanlike conduct, putting Hartford on the man advantage heading into the 3rd.

Third Period

A turnover in the offensive zone for the Phantoms played costly. Hartford carried the momentum into their offensive zone and Nikolas Brouillard fired the rebound home on the wide-open cage at 6:53. Bobby Trivigno extended the Wolf Pack lead to three, a breakaway goal at 10:33. Johnny Brodzinski added on, a floating wrister on the break over the shoulder of Petersen to put Hartford up four. Lehigh Valley outshot Hartford 27-20 in the 2nd and 3rd period.
