Before the WJC Tournament kicked off, there were supposed to be five Flyers Prospects in this particular tournament. Unfortunately, Jack Berglund broke his hand for Sweden in a pre-season tilt, thus he he has been scratched for the tournament, obviously.
This is a great tournament to highlight prospects, and upcoming draftee prospects. A lot of craziness happens, but that’s what makes this tournament fun, especially this time of year. Without further delay, here are how the Flyers prospects fared yesterday.
Canada vs. Finland
Oliver Bonk had a good game, as did his teammate Easton Cowan. Bonk made the right place at even strength, but struggled it with the Power Play a bit. Inconsistencies with the man advantage is to be expected, especially early in this tournament, due to lack of playing time together.
Bonk broke up some place, and made some goods reads Defensively, and Canada won 4-0. Flyers Goaltending prospect Carson Bjarnason was relegated to the third string goalie position, so he did not suit up. Carter George was phenomenal between the pipes.
.
Jett Luchanko certainly did not look out of place. Although he did not hit the score sheet. He still managed to show off his skills, especially with the puck. There were some plays he would like to have back, especially with the puck, but overall I liked his game. Luchanko managed to play 15:03, and he registered one shot on net.
Heikki Ruohonen played well for Finland into losing effort. Ruohonen registered three shots on net, and played 15:38. He tried his best for team Finland, to break Carter George’s shutout bid, but he would not be denied. George was just too darn good between the pipes. Ruohonen tried to go high glove side, but was denied. He did everything possible to pot one.
