The Flyers have the opportunity to move in the standings if they do well during the Round Robin. And this past season, the Flyers have seen success against the teams they will be facing in the Round Robin. Those teams are, in order of the standings:

  1. Boston Bruins
  2. Tampa Bay Lightning
  3. Washington Capitals

This season, against the Bruins, the Flyers were 2-1; against the Lightning, they are 0-2; and against the Capitals, they are 3-1. The Flyers have had some success against these top-notch teams, but with the break, it’s hard to say what’s indicative of success against these teams now.

Flyers Forward Kevin Hayes said today, “No matter who we play, this team has a ton of confidence. We had a great season… I think no matter who we’re playing, our coaches and our players have a lot of confidence playing against anyone.”

Hayes also went on to talk about the depth this team has and how it will impact them on the ice, “Whether it’s the top guys getting all the points and the third/fourth line guys doing their job. It’s a full team effort every night.”

Assistant Coach Ian Laperriere said they aren’t looking that far into the future yet, though, “Right now we’re focusing our training camp, getting our guys ready. Reminding them of our system,” Laperriere said today.

It’s easy to look ahead at all of the hockey that is yet to come, but training camp is still happening as we speak and that’s where the focus is for right now, “When we get to those games, we’ll focus on those teams. We played these guys quite a bit this year,” Laperriere said. But, he continued on to say, “Our goal right now is to get our guys in shape, mentally and physically.”
