Flyers Head Coach Alain Vigneault commands the most from his players. He is not shy to holding stars accountable, for instance, Jakub Voracek and JvR last season in the playoffs. Vigneault as I wrote earlier has every right to “Critique” this team.

The Flyers have not played a complete 60 minute full game once this season. We all have seen flashes of this team from last year with their great run, but it hasn’t been consistent enough. in some cases the Flyers don’t find their legs until the third period, which is great they currently sit with a record of 5-2-1, but they cannot sustain this for the rest of the season.

Vigneault was not happy with his team this past Thursday night and in particular the top two lines. Travis Konecny played on the second line with Oskar Lindblom and Nolan Patrick, and this line overall was ineffective for the most part against the New Jersey Devils.

So how does a coach get the most out of their team, or get a message across? Well, you sit one of the team star players and in this case it might be Konecny. Konecny is off to a good start to the season with five goals and three assists, but he has to be consistent. He is one of the team’s best forwards, so he has to play a better two-way game.

If these inconsistencies continue, look for more benches to star players. All this means is that no one is safe. However, Konecny can possibly be nursing a lingering injury, and with a back-to-back this weekend maybe Vigneault is just giving Konecny a rest for tomorrow’s game. Whatever the case may be, stay tuned with us as we will find out later following a media availability with Vigneault at 445pm.

Flyers Notes:

It appears as though Philippe Myers will be in tonight. According to the NHL media site, he has been activated and Sean Couturier has been moved to IR.
