The Flyers have hired another former Flyer in hockey operations. This time it is a Flyers legend in John LeClair.
Leclair, who is 53, has experience with coaching 3ice, which happens to be a 3-on-3 North American Hockey League, “LeClair will work alongside Patrick Sharp and will be involved in all aspects of the club’s hockey operations department with a strong focus on player development with Flyers prospects,” per the Flyers.

Danny Briere and Keith Jones are ecstatic with this hire, “We have another great addition to our hockey operations team in John LeClair,” Briere said. “John’s hockey resume speaks for itself. His passion for the city of Philadelphia along with his strong leadership skills will be a key component to building our team back into its winning ways.”
While Jones added, “Adding in John LeClair to work in conjunction with Patrick Sharp and the rest of our hockey operations group will be a powerful combination with their vast hockey knowledge and a ‘team-first’ mentality. John has been around the NHL and the game for a long time and knows what it takes to bring the core ethics of our foundation to the Philadelphia Flyers.”
The Flyers are trying to reface the organization with familiar faces it appears. Will it work? Who knows, only time will tell, but these moves have most Flyers fans feeling good these days, “I’m extremely excited and honored to be named a Special Advisor to Hockey Operations,” a Flyers legend John LeClair said. “I’m most looking forward to being a part of this group and ensuring our number one priority is to bring the Stanley Cup to Philadelphia.”
In another move that absolutely adds no value to the Club, LeClair will be yet another ex-Flyer who will receive a ton of on-the-job training, and will receive all the benefits of a patronage job. Lindros and Renberg can’t be too far behind.
Well, we got rid of Kjell Samuelsson (finally), only to add Sharp and Johnny.
And… what about the 3 Kings? Haven’t heard anything official about their imminent departure.
