What a massive statement win for the Philadelphia Flyers last night! They absolutely dominated the NHL-leading Colorado Avalanche with a convincing 7-3 victory at Ball Arena on January 23, 2026.

This capped off a solid three-game road trip where the Flyers went 2-0-1, picking up 5 out of 6 possible points—huge for their playoff push. Owen Tippett was the star of the show, notching his second career hat trick (plus an assist for a four-point night).

Matvei Michkov chipped in with two goals and an assist, and the team exploded for four goals in the third period to seal the blowout. Sam Ersson was sharp in net too, helping shut down a potent Avs offense that had been rolling at home (they were 20-1-4 there before this loss—only their second regulation home defeat of the season).

This comes after a tough skid, so bouncing back like this against the league’s best is exactly the kind of momentum-builder the Flyers needed.

Overall, this was a really good road trip—gritty, resilient hockey. What stood out most to you from the game? Tippett’s performance, the third-period surge, or just the fact they stunned the top team in the league?
