The Flyers have officially released information in regards to Training Camp that will begin on Thursday September 22 at 830am sharp. Here is the schedule below:

The Flyers have released their training camp schedule, and a total of 71 players are currently scheduled to attend training camp that consists of 41 forwards, 22 defensemen, and eight goaltenders.

The Flyers will have five players at camp on professional try-outs (PTO): Artem Anisimov, Nolan Maier, Pat Nagle (Signed with the Phantoms), Antoine Roussel, and Tyler Wall.

Maier won the battle between him and Jonathan Lemieux. I did state one of them would be at training camp when it began.

Here is the official roster:

Sean Couturier

Unfortunately, I can confirm that Sean Couturier is injured again, this time it’s his back, not that Anthony SanFilippo needs vindication of such as he was the first reporter to give this information. This is devastating news for Coots who said he was happy he was fully healthy. The Flyers are cursed.

“We don’t seem to have on paper that big superstar or big name guy, but I think as a team we can come together and do some damage. Prove everyone wrong.” â€“ Sean Couturier said last week

Couturier has a herniated disc in his back, according to SanFilippo, and unfortunately it could cost him a few months.

The Flyers statement on Sean Couturier:

“He has an upper-body injury and will be re-evaluated during training camp. He is considered week-to-week.”

Flyers’ General Manager Chuck Fletcher is scheduled to speak today at 9:15am. I will bring you live coverage from the Flyers Training Center, with the hopes of getting more clarity on the health of Ryan Ellis and Couturier.

The overall status of Ellis has been somewhat of a mystery, with the exception for Tortorella releasing some information in regards to Ellis’s attendance at Training Camp. I did confirm a few weeks ago that he was back in Voorhees, other than that everything is pretty much speculative. This is one major key that I will be focusing on a training camp, answers, answers, answers.

The season hasn’t begun, but this is sad news for the Flyers already, and they are already fighting an uphill battle for relevancy once again.

What to watch for at Training Camp

Lines, lines, lines. No one knows what the lines will look like on opening night, without the services of a top line Center in Couturier. The services of Joel Farabee or also in doubt for opening night. Moreover, I do not expect Alice to be part of the opening night roster, in fact I expect the Flyers to place him on LTIR temporarily at the very least to start the season.

These are some interesting storylines, to which answers will be given in time. Look for young prospects like Tyson Foerster, Elliot Desnoyers, Wade Allison, Noah Cates, Tanner Laczynski, and Isaac Ratcliffe to make a strong push for the club. Moreover, look for defensive prospects like Egor Zamula, Wyatte Wylie, and Linus Högberg to make an impression to the Flyers top brass. Most of these players have been in Voorhees for a large part of the Summer training for what is shaping up to be a grueling Training Camp.

A few more players to watch are Morgan Frost, Owen Tippett, Tony DeAngelo, and Ivan Provorov. Provorov is entering the biggest season of his career, especially with how last season transpired and exit interviews. Frost is also entering the biggest season of his career with the orange and black after signing a one-year deal to stay with the club in the offseason, and unfortunately this season is turning out to be a make it or break it year for Frost in the orange and black. In addition, much has been made about the acquisition of DeAngelo, so let’s see what he’s got. Tippett just seems like a confident Prospect that’s ready to break out.

one last thing we cannot forget about backup call tanning position, and then it’s shaping up to be a dog fight between Troy Grosenick, Samuel Ersson, Tyler Wall, Pat Nagle, Felix Sandström, and Nolan Maier.

What else we’ll take place at Training Camp is anyone’s guess, but it will be fun to watch.
