E214 – Flyers Roster Decisions Are Coming
The Philadelphia Flyers enter their first waiting period of the offseason. While it is quiet right now, there is a lot of speculation on what the organization will do with it’s roster moving forward. Prospects are still playing hockey around the world as the NHL playoffs ramp up towards their finality as it all accumulates towards the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. The Flyers strategy is not quite clear as to what the organization would do moving forward, but it is speculated that the team will look to make changes in continuing the rebuild. A lot of those changes seem to coincide with the rumors of, prized prospect, Matvei Michkov coming over before his KHL contract expires.
If the Flyers can continue their current strong run of adding talent of players under the age of 25 such as with Ryan Poehling, Jamie Drysdale, Alexi Kolosov, Oliver Bonk, Denver Barkey, Yegor Zavragin, and Matvei Michkov through various ways, they will continue the perception that the team is heading in the optimal direction. Assuming that the Flyers pick two players in the first round of the draft and announce the arrival of Michkov, the city will be filled with confidence that the change they desire is right around the corner. If GM, Danny Briere, can have a very strong offseason by adding what is needed without losing much, then the fanbase will be filled with the temporary elation that comes with a strong offseason.
On this episode of Gettin’ Gritty Wit It, Yariv and Vasili dig into all of the potential moves coming in the weeks leading up to the offseason and what the team can leverage to stay the course in building a team with depth. Can the Flyers continue their strong reputation of the past year or will they leave the city underwhelmed? Like and subscribe if you want more content!
