E184 – Game Time: Flyers Opening Night Roster Set
The day is finally upon us. The 2023-24 Philadelphia Flyers NHL home opener is here and the excitement is palpable in the air. However, there is somewhat of a buzzkill as Sean Couturier has been recently announced as “banged up”, but coach John Tortorella. For a team that is coming off a tough loss to the Ottawa Senators in a 5-2 away game loss, a rebound win would be important to sustain momentum from their win against the Columbus Blue Jackets. If Couturier is officially out for the home opener against the Vancouver Canucks, the Flyers will be forced to change up their offensive line combinations. Having said that, it is the first opportunity that the team will be able to start both rookies on offense, Tyson Foerster and Bobby Brink, this season. Regardless of the team the Flyers will ice, they will be expected to win their first game at home, as expectations have been raised since they finished with the 7th worst record in the NHL the previous season. For a team that had to compete without Couturier for two seasons in a row, they’ll have to do it once again.
