226 – Can The Flyers Be Better in 2024-25? (Ft. Charlie O’Connor)

Matvei Michkov is here, the roster is nearly set, and the league is once again counting the Flyers out from being competitive during the regular season. A perfect recipe to prove the NHL pundits wrong once again as this tight nit group of players look to take their chemistry and aggressive nature to the next level. With players like Owen Tippett, Joel Farabee, Cam York, Morgan Frost, Tyson Foerster, Bobby Brink, Samuel Ersson, Jamie Drysdale, and others all on the precipice of hitting development benchmarks, the Flyers could be more competitive than people think. Sure the team has a lot of question marks heading into the NHL season and there is a high risk factor, but there a lot of bets to make. If the Flyers can see a 25%-50% of the players improve on this team you could once again see them defy the odds and be in the playoff race all season long. Of course the Metro division has gotten more competitive, but the Flyers could be more competitive just based on their young roster that projects them with the 2nd youngest squad in the NHL heading into next season. Will John Tortorella and his coaching staff be able to raise the level of play of this team as he has done in the past subsequent years? Time will tell, but he has a slew of players to affect moving forward and that is what rebuilds are all about. Build from within and improve every season.

On this episode of Gettin’ Gritty Wit It, Yariv and Vasili welcome to the show long time Flyers reporter and PHLY star hockey journalist Charlie O’Connor. Charlie is one of the hardest working Flyers journalists in the area and has rapidly grown in popularity over the last decade from blogger to mainstream content creator. We go through the Flyers’ upcoming potential going into the 2024-25 NHL season and if they can be better than they were last season.
