Tyson Foerster is a 23-year-old Right Wing for the Flyers, drafted 23rd overall in 2020. He’s played three NHL seasons, scoring 48 goals and 35 assists in 166 games, as shown in the sports card above. In 2024-25, he had 25 goals and 18 assists in 81 games, with a notable hat trick against the Rangers.

Yesterday, Flyers’ General Manager Danny Briere clarified Tyson Foerster’s injury and playing status:

“He had an injury at the World Championships that wasn’t supposed to be anything really serious. Came back here and there was some infection that set in to the elbow, and then it just got worse. He came and saw our doctors, and decided they had to go in and remove the infection. What I’m finding out is it takes a long time for all the samples to come back negative, and that’s what we are still waiting on. At that point, we will reevaluate and see if more needs to be done or if we are lucky enough that’s the end of it, and he can move on and be ready for the start of the season. But, there’s no guarantee of that. We are sitting and waiting right now to see how serious it is or not.”

To clarify, he may miss time due to an elbow infection from the World Championships, with no guaranteed recovery timeline. The team of doctors and Flyers’ organization are waiting for his test results to come back negative. His two-year, $7.5M contract runs through 2026-27.

Briere did mention some internal replacements for Foerster, in case he does miss some time to start the season: Porter Martone, Alex Bump, and Devin Kaplan. It’s great to see Martone mentioned as a possible replacement for Foerster. That’s how much they think of him.

In the end, hopefully Tyson continues to get healthy, and comes to Training Camp 100%.
