Tyson Foerster, a 23-year-old winger has been sidelined since November 1 with a lower-body injury (specifically a foot issue from blocking a shot against the Toronto Maple Leafs), which landed him on injured reserve retroactive to that date. He’s already missed four games as a result, including matchups against Calgary, Montreal, Nashville, and Ottawa.

- November 2–3: Initial reports indicated he’d miss “a few games” and be reevaluated in 3–4 days. The Flyers placed him on IR, confirming at least a week out.
- November 7: Foerster returned to skating in a limited capacity (T-shirt and shorts) under trainer supervision, testing the injury.
- November 10: Reports emerged that he was “on track” for a potential return to practice the next day and could play as early as November 12 against the Edmonton Oilers.
- November 11 (Yesterday): Foerster fully participated in the Flyers’ practice in Voorhees, NJ, wearing a regular jersey.
- He skated with his usual linemates, Noah Cates and Bobby Brink.
- Got reps on the power play in the slot (his typical spot).
- No visible limitations; he even took a puck to the face during drills without issue.
- Head Coach Rick Tocchet is expected to provide more clarity post-practice

He’s eligible to come off IR immediately, and all signs point to him suiting up for tomorrow’s home game against the Oilers at the Wells Fargo Center (7:30 p.m. ET puck drop). This would be a big boost for the Flyers’ third line, which has lacked its usual chemistry without him—Foerster has been one of the team’s most effective defensive forwards this season (Four goals, Three assists in 11 games) while contributing to a plus-5 rating.
| Line | Forwards |
|---|---|
| 1st | Zegras – Coots – Michkov |
| 2nd | Foerster – Cates – Brink |
| 3rd | Tippett – Dvorak – Konecny |
| 4th | Grebenkin – Abols – Hathaway |
Fingers crossed he stays on this trajectory—Philly could use his two-way game against Edmonton’s high-powered attack. Inadvertently, Carl Grundstrom will be sent back to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
