Tyson Foerster has been sidelined since early December 2025 due to a serious upper-body/arm injury (shoulder-related from a shot attempt against the Pittsburgh Penguins), which required surgery and was initially expected to sideline him for about five months.

That timeline would have kept him out through much of the 2025-26 season. However, Flyers’ Head Coach Rick Tocchet indicated positive progress yesterday. Foerster returned to practice (or at least joined teammates on the ice) for the second or third time since the injury. Tocchet commented that Foerster is progressing In the right direction, “Whether he comes back this year or not, I’m not sure, but he’s definitely progressing.”
This suggests a potential possibility of a late-season return, but it’s not confirmed—he’s trending positively without a firm timeline. The Flyers have desperately missed his two-way play, goal-scoring abilities (he led the team in goals at the time of injury), and line chemistry (e.g., with Noah Cates).

Tocchet has noted in prior comments comparing him to Mark Stone for his defensive reliability and hockey sense. Foerster be a welcome addition to the lineup, but only if he absolutely is 100% ready to go., so they need Tyson healthy for the started Training Camp next Fall.
