This past weekend Tyson Foerster went to Instagram, and sent a nice heartfelt message to Flyers fans. He said:
“What a first. Thank you Philly🧡”
Foerster had one goal in mind this past Summer…to win a spot on the Flyers roster on opening night. He remained in Voorhees, NJ for the Summer in preparation of the upcoming season. It didn’t matter if he donned a new number of 71, making the team did not change his mindset regardless of the number (Old number 52). Mission accomplished, as he won a spot on the Flyers opening night roster.
It wasn’t all roses for him scoring wise in the early going, but he played very well defensively throughout the course of the season. Even so much so, he was involved in the play more often than not, and his skating became a strength believe it or not. Foerster has been determined to improve his skating since he was drafted back in 2021, but he did find his niche scaring wise, as well.
Believe it or not and Foerster finished year with 20 goals. That was quite a feat, considering it was tied for the third best by a rookie in the NHL. Just imagine if he didn’t struggle early scoring goals, he possibly could have finished the year with 30 or more.
The possibilities are endless with the Foerster. He really proved and showed what he could do on the big stage. Through hard work and determination, his dream in the NHL has come true, and believe it or not, he’s an NHL mainstay now, where some thought he might not be because of his skating.
