Ty Murchison made his NHL debut on December 9, 2025, playing for the Philadelphia Flyers against the San Jose Sharks. The 22-year-old defenseman, a fifth-round pick by the Flyers in the 2021 NHL Draft, was called up from the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

Murchison logged 14:56 of ice time, including some penalty kill minutes, in a 4-1 Flyers victory. His performance was solid and even for a debut, noting his physical style and adjustment to the NHL speed.
“He can skate really well, and he’s competitive. That’s what I really like about him,” Tocchet said of Murchison, following the game.

A former Arizona State University standout, in Murchison, was paired with Noah Juulsen on the third defensive pair and had family in attendance for the emotional milestone. They all hail from Nova Scotia , Arizona, and Prince Edward Island, according to Murchison.
This was his first NHL game after impressing in the AHL with a +9 rating in 21 games earlier in the season.
