Trevor Zegras is absolutely killing it as a Flyer right now. Just eight games into the 2025-26 season, the 24-year-old Center (traded from Anaheim in June for Ryan Poehling and a couple of mid-round picks) is already looking like the steal of the offseason. He’s tied for the team lead with 8 points (2 goals, 6 assists), putting him on pace for an 82-point season—his best projected output ever.

The Ducks shipped Zegras to Philly on June 23, 2025, in exchange for Poehling, the No. 45 pick in the ’25 draft (used on center Eric Nilson), and a 2026 fourth-rounder. It was a fresh start for Z after some injury-riddled, inconsistent years in Anaheim (just 32 points in 57 games last season), where he got shuffled to the wing despite thriving at center.
Now back in the middle—reunited with old pal Jamie Drysdale, no less—he’s unlocking that elite skill set: Michigan goals, saucer passes, and pure chaos.

Why He’s Dominating
- Hot Streak Alert: In last night’s thriller against the New York Islanders (4-3 Flyers SO win), Zegras erupted for teo goals, one assist, and the shootout clincher—erasing a two-goal deficit in the third period alone. His first two goals as a Flyer? Both game-tying daggers in crunch time.
- Early Highlights: He’s already dishing dimes like it’s 2022-23 (his 60-point heyday). Remember that “pass of the season” saucer to Sean Couturier against Florida? Or deking Sam Bennett into oblivion for a third-eye feed? Philly fans are eating it up.
- Coach’s Take: Rick Tocchet’s raving: “He’s been working on his game since training camp… grabbing a coach here and there, watching video.” @JameyBaskow Z himself called the Isles game “special,” hinting at that homecoming vibe (he’s got Northeast roots and high school ties to Flyers like Cam York).
He’s shooting more (Four SOG’s yesterday after eight in prior seven) and could slide onto the top Power Play Unit soon. For the Flyers faithful, this is the spark they have craved alongside Matvei Michkov. If Zegras stays healthy ($5.75M cap hit, RFA next Summer), Philly’s top-six just got a whole lot scarier.
Keep feeding that highlight reel, Trevor. What’s next, a Michigan in the Wells Fargo Center?
