It was a pretty quiet game for the Flyers in the first two periods, but they locked in and got it going in the third period to knot things up at two. Both teams were locked in the third period, but no one could get it going and get the go ahead score. The game headed in to overtime tied at two, as Boston appeared to play for overtime. Travis Sanheim came up huge for the Flyers on a game winning breakaway goal to put the game to bed. The Flyers won the game, 3-2.

Just 10:15 in to the opening period, the Flyers got on board first as Travis Konecny tipped in the puck into the right side of the goal that made the score 1-0 (assisted by Ivan Provorov and Scott Laughton).

Moments later, the Bruins got back on track with a game tying wrist shot by Karson Kuhlman (assisted by Charlie Coyle) that went on the upper right hand side of the goal to make the score 1-1.

The Bruins started out the second period resuming a power play. 46 seconds into the second period the Bruins got a power play goal from Patrice Bergeron (assisted by David Pastrnak and Matt Grzelcyk) to make the score 2-1 Bruins.

It was a back and forth second period as both teams did a good job defending, especially during penalty kills. The Bruins went to the third period ahead by a goal.

Just 5:21 into the final period the Flyers went on a power play Jeremy Lauzon held Flyers Michael Raffl. A minute later, the Flyers came up big as Sean Couturier snapped a shot zipped by Bruins’ goalie Vladar and went in the goal like a baseball fastball to tie the game at two.

With less than four minutes left in overtime, the Flyers got an excellent opportunity to win the game when Travis Sanheim got a breakaway and flipped it in to the goal to give the Flyers get the victory 3-2.

The Flyers are now 18-14-5 heading in to tomorrow’s rematch with the Bruins in Philadelphia.

“It’s going to be another battle tomorrow night,” Brian Elliott who had a great game said following the game. “Sanny is a great skater,” Travis Konecny said following the game. “You usually don’t see him jump up in the play like that 5-on-5; he’s usually on the defensive side there.”

Konecny continued, “We know what’s at stake going forward. It’s a matter of playing hard, playing for each other. Tonight was a perfect example. Moose gave us a chance to win, and glad we were able to win it. Now we need to carry that into tomorrow.”
