The official roster was announced on December 31, 2025, marking the return of NHL players to Olympic hockey for the first time since 2014. Sanheim, a reliable shutdown defenseman known for his heavy ice time (averaging over 24 minutes per game this season) and strong two-way play, earned his spot after impressing in the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off, where he stepped up due to injuries and played key minutes for Canada.

Canada opens the tournament against Czechia on February 12, 2026. This will be Sanheim’s first Olympic appearance, joining a stacked blue line with players like Cale Makar, Devon Toews, and Josh Morrissey. Congrats to him—it’s a well-deserved honor for the 29-year-old from Elkhorn, Manitoba!
