And he does it again, he does it again. How many times does season has someone said that Travis Konecny has done it again. Quite often right!!! The guy is red hot right now as he extends his point streak to 10 games after netting a hat trick last night against the Capitals.
Konecny fired the puck late in the third with an open net for a hat trick. He now has 10g,8a in his last 10 games played. It’s an unbelievable feat and it’s the first 10 game point streak for the Flyers since the 2017-18 season when Claude Giroux had a 10 game point streak.
The puck is just finding his stick, but a lot of that has to do with Konecny. He’s a confident player, and wants the puck, so he’s driving hard to the net while looking for the puck at all times. Konecny has been elusive, and tough to take the Puck from. Hopefully he keeps it up, as he is now tied his career high and goals scored with 24, and they’re still 40 games left of the season.
“Everything about his game is effort. I think he’s getting rewarded. I saw the type of shape he was in at camp. I’ve watched him from afar – he’s a pretty good player.” – John Tortorella on Travis Konecny
Owen Tippett extended his point streak to seven games, and he’s another player that is oozing with confidence. He tallied yet another goal giving him 13 for the season, and he now has a new career high end points with 23 after another 1g,1a game. Again there’s still 40 games left to play, in the youth are flourishing under John Tortorella. He has done an amazing job with instilling confidence to the youth.
Look at Carter Hart after backstopping 26 tough shots against the Capitals. He notched his 74th career victory, putting him in sole possession of 10th All-Time amongst Flyers goaltenders in wins. Mind you Hart is just 24-years-old, and some of us forget that. This team is just a very confident one right now as they are 6-1 in their last seven games.
“I think we are starting to understand the way it is and how we have to play. Obviously, I think we are playing more confident offensively, but there’s still some lapses that we have to clean up.” – Owen Tippett
Let’s see what transpires this weekend when they face the Caps again. Morgan Frost could have set the tone in the first period when he registered for scoring chances alone. The same type of effort will be needed on Saturday against the Capitals, as they are looking for revenge.
Tyson Foerster and Cam York
Both Foerster and York have been nominated to the AHL All-Star Game. Don’t panic Flyers fans York will not play in that game, as he won’t be sent back to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms anytime soon. It’s good honor nonetheless, especially for Foerster.
Zayde Wisdom reassigned
Before the AHL All-Star nominations were announced. Zayde Wisdom was sent from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms to the Reading Royals.
Remember folks he is coming back from a serious shoulder injury that kept him out from a large part of last season. Every Prospect and player is different than how they return back from a serious injury. He missed the large portion of Developmental time to include a new coach Ian Laperrière.
In 2020-21, Wisdom registered 7g,11a for the Phantoms in 28 games played. Unfortunately, this season after coming back from injury he has only netted 1g,6a in 26 games played. His development has slowed, hence the reason sending him to the Royals. Hopefully he comes back better than ever.
