Travis is back to his old ways, and becoming a leader inside the Flyers locker room. Konecny has been fiesty and full of energy, but even more impressive has been his scoring abilities. He has 22 goals through the first 50 games of the season, “I enjoyed being here, and knowing there’s a bunch of people in the crowd. As long as they had fun, I was trying to have fun and enjoy the whole experience,” Konecny said following the event.
For his efforts, Konecny recorded an assist in the 4-3 shootout loss to Team McDavid yesterday. Konecny was just happy to have his family by his side, as he smiled throughout the entire event.
Konecny said John Tortorella has helped him grow his game. One can sense his renewed confidence on the ice, and he has been playing pretty loose. He’s a microcosm of a player that’s not afraid to make a mistake.
During his All-Star game media availability he recollected the days of when he used to play with Nick Suzuki from the Montreal Canadiens, “Nick he’s great. He’s got a dry sense of humor. Great hockey player, put in the time. Always great competitive days at the school, it was a lot of fun.”
The Super bowl is coming up and that was a hot topic for media availabilities for the All-Star Game the other day. Some Philadelphia Eagles fans will be happy with Konecny’s choice of who he wants to win the Super Bowl. Konecny would like the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes to win the big game in a little over a week. He said it’s hard to go against Mahomes and company.
“I have never penalty killed before I got the opportunity here,” Konecny said during his media availability on Thursday. “I like it, if I’m not in a game, sometimes the Power Play is not going, five-on-five is not going, I think a penalty kill is a good way to get yourself into it and feel like you’re contributing. I also have a lot of fun.”
