Travis Konecny, what more can anyone say about Travis Konecny. He’s been a ball of energy, showing the Flyers life. Konecny has been stellar all season long, and really has matured into a very good leader and player for the orange and black. Even so-much-so, Konecny is on pace to tally 48 goals this season., and he would become the first Flyer to pot 40 or more goals since Jeff Carter did such back in the 2008-09 season.
With the Flyers starting out to a 15-10-2 record to begin the season, a player that has really shined is Travis Konecny. Looking forward, there is no doubt that Travis is back to his old ways, and becoming a leader inside the Flyers locker room. Konecny has been fiesty and full of energy, but even more impressive has been his scoring abilities. He has 16 goals through the first 26 games of the season, and Konecny is currently tied for sixth in the league in this particular category, “All the young guys are a year older from last year. We’re trying to make a good culture that everyone falls into, continues to work and believes in each other,” Konecny said following the victory against the Arizona Coyotes.
Even with all his success, Konecny credits someone else, “He’s helped my game a lot. He’s one of the best defensive guys in the game,” Konecny said of Sean Couturier. Konecny said Couturier has helped him become a more mature player.
As much as people downed Konecny in 2021-22, I believe that he used that negativity to better himself and that really helped out the team. John Tortorella spoke very highly of him:
“He’s just a really good player. He knows he’s a good player. When his mind is straight, and he doesn’t get caught up in the antics of it all, and just plays, his engine is so good. It’s fun to watch him play.” – John Tortorella said following the Colorado game

It’s the effort on a nightly basis that has team believing in one another. “It’s great effort by us. We believe we can be in these type of games,” Konecny said of dismantling a very good Avs team this past Saturday night. The Avs are a Stanley Cup contending team, and the Flyers are starting to make naysayers believers now.
“All of them. I won’t name names because I don’t want to forget someone. These guys have done a terrific job just sticking with it, and it’s fun to watch,” Konecny said. This team is believing and the organization appears to be putting the worst behind them. Let’s see how this goes, and how this all pans out in the near future.
People forget that Couturier has been out for two years, most of us judge w/ blinders on, which makes our observations, incorrect analysis. The Flyers were never as bad as most thought, nor as good as today. They are improving, and it shouldn’t surprise anyone who really knows the team. IF they get their drafts right, trade smart and make signings for improvement, they will eventually accomplish their goals of being super competitive, w/ a chance of finally winning a cup. That’s always been the formula, call it rebuild, reclaim, no matter what marketing plan (name) you give it.
