The Flyers season is at the quarter mark, so let’s begin to look at players that may be the key to success for the orange and black. First up, Travis Konecny. He’s been a ball of energy, showing the Flyers life.
With the Flyers starting out to a 14-10-2 record to begin the season, a player that has really shined is Travis Konecny. Looking forward, there is no doubt that Travis is back to his old ways, and becoming a leader inside the Flyers locker room. Konecny has been fiesty and full of energy, but even more impressive has been his scoring abilities. He has 14 goals through the first 26 games of the season, and Konecny is currently tied for ninth in the league in this particular category, “All the young guys are a year older from last year. We’re trying to make a good culture that everyone falls into, continues to work and believes in each other,” Konecny said following the victory against the Arizona Coyotes.
Even with all his success, Konecny credits someone else, “He’s helped my game a lot. He’s one of the best defensive guys in the game,” Konecny said of Sean Couturier. Konecny said Couturier has helped him become a more mature player.
As much as people downed Konecny in 2021-22, I believe that he used that negativity to better himself and that really helped out the team. John Tortorella spoke very highly of him:
“He’s a really good player. He’s got a great engine to him. He drives me crazy with some of the things he does, that’s also part of him and I can’t get in the way with him all the time. I need to let him be who he is, he’s a terrific player.” – John Tortorella following the Arizona game

Sean Couturier spoke highly of Travis Konecny too, “He’s intense, aggressive, explosive. He sees a loose puck, he most likely wins that race. He’s fun to play with. The last two years he’s learned the PK. He’s learning and doing a good job of when to go or stay back.”
“He’s helped my game a lot. He’s one of the best defensive guys in the game,” Konecny said of Sean Couturier. The two go hand in hand now, as Travis Konecny potted a short-handed goal last night, to which the Flyers now lead the league in that category with seven.
For his efforts, Konecny leads the team in Points (21), Goals (14), and is second on the team with a plus/minus of +10. Just superb stuff from Teeks. Hopefully, his success continues as the season wears on.
