The Flyers have hired Todd Reirden as an Assistant Coach, where he will oversee the team’s defense.
This move was reported by multiple sources on June 19, 2025. Reirden, a former defenseman, brings extensive NHL coaching experience, having previously served as an assistant and head coach with the Washington Capitals and an associate coach with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He won a Stanley Cup with the Capitals in 2018 as an assistant.
The Flyers’ coaching staff under Tocchet includes Assistants Jaroslav Svejkovský and Jay Varady, who were announced earlier in June 2025. Reirden, a former NHL defenseman, completes the staff, bringing his experience from the Washington Capitals, where he won a Stanley Cup in 2018 as an assistant, and from Pittsburgh as an associate coach.
