The anticipation of Game 1 surrounding the Flyers vs Canadiens was evident everywhere throughout the World for Flyers fans. The start of the Stanley cup playoffs has started, and the first game did not disappoint. Both teams battled every minute of this game to see who was going to get the all important first win in the series. The Flyers get the big win against Carey Price and the Montreal Canadiens (Habs), and this is what I noticed about the win.

The Power Play: The Flyers were 0-11 entering the first game against the Habs. The Flyers were a team that was struggling on the Power Play, and they just couldn’t seem to light the lamp. Well, the team finally was able to get that all important first Power Play goal courtesy of Jakub Voracek who failed to register a shot on net. The Flyers went 1-3 on the Power Play in game 1.

Carter Hart: What can I say, the young goalie was near perfect, only letting up one Power play goal that he had no shot on saving from the Canadiens Captain Shea Weber. Hart saved 27 of 28 shots that he faced. Ladies and Gentlemen, the Flyers have themselves a franchise Goalie. Happy 22nd birthday Carter Hart.

Where is the Top line?: Throughout the Round Robin series and Game 1 for that matter, the top scorers and contributors have been silent. Moreover, Jakub Voracek recorded 0 shots on net in game 1, but wound up with a goal as an Ivan Provorov shot glanced off his leg. Overall, he has been quite quiet this far in the playoffs. Is this nearing the end for some of those players? Overall, the big players like Sean Couturier, Claude Giroux, and Kevin Hayes played well, but the Team will need them to contribute more in the points department if the Flyers are going to make a deep run in the playoffs.

That’s my story and I am sticking to it.

    1. We need more production from the top line. I love the leadership from Claude Giroux and Jake, but We need Points from them as well. Farabee did score a great goal last night. I just think In order to make a deep run, you will need the top players to produce more. Thanks for reading man!!

  1. Great game!! Both teams definitely battled it out! It was a lot of back and forth and Carter Hart is a stud! This is a very exciting team to watch! #flyboys #crosbysstillabitch
