The Flyers came into Game 4 looking to tie up the series with Brian Elliott in net. Sadly, they will now face elimination on Tuesday in Game 5. Let’s get into it.
Turnovers (Again)
I’m starting to feel like a broken record, but the turnovers are killing the Flyers. It’s been a crucial part to the success of the New York Islanders in this series. They are capitalizing on the bad turnovers in their offensive zone and scoring. Everytime the Flyers gave up a bad turnover they saw themselves down a goal because of it. The Flyers know what is needed to be done to fix the issue, it’s time to execute now.
Pep In Their Step
The Flyers started to get their legs back in the second period with some hard skating and shooting the puck. They registered 12 unanswered shots towards the end of the second, and were able to get a beautiful deflection by Sean Couturier to tie the game up at one a piece. The Flyers needed to keep the pressure up in the third period where the Islanders had only let up four goals in the third period.
Keep fighting
The Flyers went down 3-1 in the third period, giving up a couple of soft goals to fall to a two goal deficit. They had chances to tie the game and battle back, getting a late goal by Ivan Provorov to cut the Isles lead to 3-2. The Flyers are now down 3-1 in the series, and will be facing elimination on Tuesday in Game 5. They have to keep fighting and take every shift as serious as can be. It’s going to be an up hill battle for sure.
Ivan Provorov:
“It’s not till it’s over.”
Claude Giroux:
“I know I can play better and help this team.”
Alain Vigneault:
“Oskar has been working real hard to get back into game shape.”
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
Bench Hiroux. He has ONE goal in his last TWENTY FIVE games. He wasn’t great on face offs, puck possession and even his passes were off the mark. He’s become a liability for the Flyers
Why not give a Morgan Frost a taste of playoff action. Put him in and sit 28
