After being completely dominated in Game 2, the Flyers bounced back to steal a win in game 3 to take a 2-1 lead in the best of seven series. Carter Harts gets a shutout, and he became the youngest Flyers Goaltender to record a shutout, and the top line produced the only goal.
Fresh Legs
Robert Hagg and Michael Raffl were back in the lineup. With this move, this forced Shayne Gostisbehere and Joel Farabee out of the lineup. This has made a huge impact this game, as Hagg registered an assist on Jakub Voracek’s lone goal, and Hagg was using his body to make great defensive plays all night. Hagg had some huge blocked shots on the penalty Kill to help protect the one goal lead. This was Raffl’s first game back from an injury that occurred earlier in the Round Robin Tournament.
Welcome back to the Top Line
The line of Claude Giroux, Sean Couturier, and Voracek were not silent. Giroux recorded an assist on a great pass to the front of the net for a Voracek goal to open the scoring. It was really a great idea by Head Coach Alain Vigneault to reunite this line. Voracek was back to using his size, and getting to the front of the net to create scoring chances. It was a great game for this line, and Carey Price played well against this top unit.Â
Man Down? No Problem
The Flyers Penalty Kill has been one of their strongest team attributes all year. Nothing short of spectacular. The Flyers have killed every Power Play but one off for the series, and are 17-21 in the playoffs in this particular category. Big congrats to Carter Hart as he is the Flyers best Penalty Killer, and fir registering his first career playoff shutout. Hart saved all 23 shots that he faced. What an absolute great performance on his part. Hart Certainly was a major factor in this game.Â
Michael Raffl:
“He’s at the gym in the hotel in the morning.” – Raffl on Oskar Lindblom
Jakub Voracek:
Voracek is giddy tonight:
“I’ve scored two goals and haven’t needed a stick yet.”
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
