The Flyers are set to play the Boston Bruins in Lake Tahoe in the second half of the outdoor game tonight at 730pm EST in Lake Tahoe. This is a grand stage for hockey and it got off to a rocky start yesterday with the Colorado Avalanche playing the Las Vegas Golden Knights, as players from both teams were falling from the melting ice. In addition, referees were also falling from the melting ice, as well, creating a dangerous environment for all involved. The right decision was made to postpone last night’s game nine hours to restart it at midnight, hence pushing the Flyers game back to 730pm EST tonight.
Even with the hiccups of yesterday’s game this tradition of playing during the day of the outdoor classic should continue. The NHL should be given respect and credit in my opinion. They tried to make it scenic with breathtaking views, great pictures, all to really enhance this great game. Pictures during the day are much better than pictures at night with these breathtaking views and sights.
This really hit home for most fans of this great game, but the objective is to grow the game. The NHL did that, as Twitter exploded from the first images of the rink and sights at Lake Tahoe. No player or personnel got hurt from the melting ice thankfully, and this great game was seen by millions of people. Millions of people that may have not have been hockey fans.
These outdoor games should continue with these breathtaking views and sights that other sports are not able to capture. The Flyers will play the Boston Bruins tonight, and more great pictures will be taken. This great game shall live on, and grow with the greatest fans in sports. For once the NHL did it right, and they should be given respect for that.
