This Flyers season was one of the worst in franchise history, yes one of the worst. Unfortunately, this Flyers season was tied for the 6th worst season in franchise history with a record of 25-46-11 (61 points). Injuries played a major factor, but they still would have missed the playoffs. It’s just not good enough for a proud blue collar city that Philadelphia is, the fans deserve better.

They were also tied with the 6th fewest wins in franchise history. This was a season to forget, that’s for sure. With the Seattle Kraken winning over the San Jose Sharks last night. If Seattle wins on Sunday against the Winnipeg Jets, then the Flyers would have the third pick of the draft, at least until May 10 which is the draft lottery.

The Flyers Power Play was the worst in the league with a 12.6 Power Play percentage. Moreover, the Flyers were 30-239 with the man advantage on the season. This is just not good enough, and if a team wants to be successful they have to have a well orchestrated Power Play.

Unfortunately, the Flyers Penalty Kill didn’t fair much better than the lackluster Power Play. The Flyers finished 26th in the league while short-handed with a 77.6 Penalty Killing percentage. They were 17th in short-handed goals for with six, but still the Flyers special teams were horrid once again this season.

For the past few seasons I have said the same thing. The Flyers will continue to be bottom feeders in the league, until they fix their special teams. This is a tough league to score in, and when a team has the man advantage they have to take full advantage of such.
