What a way to start West Coast road trip. What a way to start feeling good about themselves. What a victory, his first in the NHL, Samuel Ersson backstopped 25 saves on 28 shots faced in the 4-3 overtime victory for the Flyers.
Travis Konecny he’s on fire, and has been stellar this season. After potting two goals against the San Jose Sharks, he now has 5g,3a in his last four games played. He may very well be the lone representative at the 2023 All-Star game for the Flyers, but this would be a well-deserved one for Konecny.
Konecny and John Tortorella have developed a great relationship, and Tortorella trusts him in key situations, “We’re a resilient team. We’re going to keep pushing and keep coming at you,” Konecny said following the game.
Tony DeAngelo potted his third career overtime winning goal last night. It just so happens to be the Flyers first overtime victory this season. DeAngelo also recorded two assists on the evening notching his third consecutive multi-point game, and 11 points in his last nine games played (4g,7a).
Per NHL stats, this is also the second time in Flyers franchise history that two netminders have recorded their first NHL victories in the same season. Ersson was solid as he moved post to post laterally very well. He’s a very agile goaltender, and that makes up for some of his flaws, “More of this. More of winning games and showing I can contribute,” Ersson said following the game.

Owen Tippett also notched a goal last night, as he added to his career high in goals with 11 now. With that goal, Tippett has now tied his career high in points, as well, in the NHL with 18 in just 31 games played this season.
Tippett seems rejuvenated under Tortorella. The youth just continues to flourish under Tortorella for the Flyers.
Oskar Lindblom played in his 297th career game in the NHL.
Max Willman cleared waivers, and was sent back to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms yesterday before the game.
