A team can never have too many netminders within their system, so the Lehigh Valley Phantoms added a record holder in Nolan Maier to their squad yesterday.

Maier, 21, holds the record for the most career wins in the Western Hockey League with 122 victories.. He was a former standout with the Saskatoon Blades. Maier compiied a record of 31-23-4, with a 2.82 goals-against average and .910 save percentage in 60 out of 68 games played for the Blades last season.
In 216 career games with the Blades, Maier posted a record of 122-72-18, with a 2.89 GAA, and .905 Save Percentage. He attended the Columbus Blue Jackets Developmental Camp, but shined for the Flyers at the Rookie Camp. The writing was on the wall for one of Maier or Jonathan Lemieux to win a spot out of camp and either play for Phantoms or the Reading Royals.
The Phantoms add depth at Center
The Flyers organization is thin at the center position. Regardless of who plays with the big Club it definitely has a trickle down effect to the Phantoms, especially with the orange and black not being able to stay healthy. Like a Goaltender for the flyers, the orange and black can never have too many Centers.
With that being said, the Phantoms added Jacob Gaucher yesterday, a 6’0, 172 pound 21-year-old. Jacob is the brother of a former first round selection by the Anaheim Ducks in Nathan Gaucher.
Gaucher signed a two-way, two-year deal, and Maier agreed to a one-year, two-way contract.
He was the Captain for Baie-Comeau Drakkar in the QMJHL last season. Gaucher ended the season with a career high 35 goals and 68 points in 66 games.
Gaucher also won the 2021 Marcel-Robert Trophy as the QMJHL Scholastic Player of the Year.
