Samuel Ersson struggled early last season with momentum saves, that would eventually turn the page on the game in the Flyers favor. Fast forward to this season, not so much. He has been a stone wall for the most part.

Flyers’ Head Coach John Tortorella has used him effectively over the course of the past month. Ersson has been pretty impressive with his rebound control, and he has made timely saves most notably against the St. Louis Blues.. He moves laterally from post to post well, and Tortorella continues to praise him, “.Team likes playing in front of him. Easy guy to play for,” Tortorella said following the Blues game. “Sam’s playing well. Not great numbers, but he’s playing well. From camp on he’s played very well.”

Ersson has been spectacular for the Flyers between the pipes after the first month of the season. He’s made timely saves after being peppered trying to keep his team in it early, and also key saves in big moments to keep the Flyers engines going. Ersson continues to receive praise from Danny Briere and John Tortorella alike,

“”Erss was great, especially in that first period,” Scott Laughton said this past Tuesday.

“”You know he’s going to show up and play every game,” Nick Seeler said last night.

With a year of being the number one netminder. It just feels that he knows what to expect, and how to handle things. For his efforts, he is on fire, even though these numbers do not do him Justice. He has compiled a 4-2-1 record, with a 2.72 GAA, with a .897 Save Percentage.

“He’s an easy guy to play in front of,” said Laughton. These are some big words from a player that wears a letter. This isn’t just to pump him up, Laughton realizes how much of importance it is for Ersson to keep succeeding. The Flyers would only be this good if the goaltending is strong, to which it is with Ersson, especially after The Rocky start that backup netminder Ivan Fedotov has gotten off to.

“He just quietly goes about his business, and as I said before, the team likes playing for him,” Flyers’ Head Coach John Tortorella said.

“We are getting wins now, but we have to keep playing like this too. We see the effort level, what it’s got to be to get results,” Ersson said following the Blues game.
