Last season, Oskar Lindblom was buried on the fourth line, and appeared to be on the outside looking in for the orange and black, until Head Coach Scott Gordon took over at the helm. Fast forward to this season, and people are really seeing a transformation of this young player. Lindblom has really come into his own under Head Coach Alain Vigneault, so much so, that he was on pace to score 28 goals this season, before some unfortunate news just broke.

Unfortunately, the Flyers said that Oskar Lindblom would miss the remainder of the season, as he has been diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma:

This is a darn shame for the Swedish sensation, who has really established himself as a top six Forward at the NHL level. His health is far more important than the game of hockey, however. Before the news broke, Lindblom tallied 11 goals, and 7 assists for a total of 18 points in 30 games played.

The young rising star in Lindblom has taken on a bigger role nowadays. He is a top-six forward, and Vigneault has trusted him to see time on the penalty kill, as well as, seeing time on the second power play unit with the likes of Travis Konecny, Kevin Hayes, Matt Niskanen, and Ivan Provorov at times. Moreover, it was good to see Lindblom thriving and relishing his new found roles with the big club.

When Lindblom beats this (I will pray every night for him), I hope he comes back better than ever. There’s no crying in hockey…yea that one is out the door as, I teared up writing this.

Flyers News:

Philippe Myers will play Saturday, per Vigneault. Presumably Robert Hagg will sit, as Shayne Gostisbehere was featured on the top Power Play Unit at practice today, from the University of Denver.
