What it’s about
40 years after Pelle’s tragic crash, director Charlie Minn tells the full story: the Vezina Trophy, the Cup Final run, the Porsche, the two survivors in the car, and rare interviews (including one of Bernie Parent’s last).
A description of Pelle Lindbergh, “Fun loving. No one said a bad word about the guy.” Director Charlie Minn told Jamey Baskow a few weeks ago in an exclusive interview. “He loved the Flyers because Bernie was his idol. He was meant to be drafted by the Flyers. He loved flashy-shiny new cars, and he wanted to go fast.”
Minn continues, “He scared Dale Arnold with how fast he was. His blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit (At the time of the crash).
It actually turns out that Minn saw Pelle play as a kid at the 1983 All-Star game on Long Island. That’s where he fell in love with Pelle, asMinn was a Goaltender. Minn was smaller in stature, and so was Pelle. He became intrigued by him, and Minn believes that Pelle could have been Bernie Parent 2.0 with the mask.
