Last night, the Flyers were in Buffalo, playing against the Sabres. The Flyers will look to rebound on Wednesday after losing last night 2-1. The game was not televised as the Sabres website was the only place where the game could be seen, to which the Flyers picked up the stream from Buffalo’s website
Brandon Biro opened the scoring early in the first period for the Sabres, beating Troy Grosenick on a stoppable shot. Grosenick rebounded nicely though, stopping a breakaway attempt shortly after. The Flyers had the Frost line and their top defense pair on the ice at the time of the goal. Biro played one game for the Sabres last season, not registering on the scoresheet.

Travis Konecny got the Flyers on the board with a snipe short side, beating Craig Anderson. The goal was assisted by van Riemsdyk and Morgan Frost. Seeing the top line recover and get the goal back is a good sign for the season.
The first period ended tied at one goal apiece. Believe it or not the Flyers controlled play early, registering multiple shots on net before Biro beat Grosenick. Konecny’s goal came a few minutes later on the rush, beating Anderson short-side. Konecny did not skate again in the first period after his goal. He took a hit and slid into the boards hard. He was a bit slow to get up. Each team had six shots on goal.
Konecny returned for the start of the second period. Alex Tuch opened the scoring for Buffalo quickly in the second period. Tuch ripped a shot off from the high slot, beating Grosenick who had made a few really good saves before allowing a routine shot to go above his shoulder.
The Sabres and Flyers each got their first powerplays during the second period, neither team was able to capitalize on the man-advantage.
The third period opened with Sam Ersson coming in for Troy Grosenick. He was tested early as the Sabres got a Power Play due to an Antoine Roussell high stick. The penalty was soon canceled out as Buffalo also took a penalty, turning the game into a four-on-four with the Flyers getting a very abbreviated Power Play. The Sabres took another penalty to give the Flyers a four-on-three Power Play that would become a five-on-three shortly after. Philly was unable to tie the game despite having a two-man advantage for a minute and a half.
Ronnie Attard took a tripping penalty as well in the third. He went knee-on-knee with rising star Tage Thompson, which drew a bit of a crowd. After that, the game got a bit chippy as there was a fight and more hits. Zack MacEwen went after Rasmus Dahlin, who wanted no part of the rugged forward, after being thrown into the end boards.
The Flyers made a late push with the goalie pulled to find the equalizer but were unsuccessful. The Flyers are back in action on Wednesday night at home with the Washington Capitals in town.
