Reading Royals and Phantoms fans know Nolan Maier quite well. He had a phenomenal season in 2022-23 for both the Royals and Phantoms.
Maier went 12-8-3, with a 2.89 GAA, and a .892 Save Percentage for the Royals, while seeing call-ups with the Phantoms at times. These numbers became impressive because of such, and Maier stood on his head at times for the Royals.
Today, he was great, not good, but great. Maier made 36 saves on 37 shots faced, as he earned the Royals a 2-1 victory. This victory was a much needed one for the Reading Royals, who are vying and jockeying for playoff positioning.
His last five starts have been phenomenal, as Maier has earned a 4-1 record, a 2.51 GAA, and a .929 Save Percentage. With the Phantoms, Maier on multiple occasions was the best player on the ice last season. He managed to finish with a 5-2-2 record, with a 2.85 GAA, and a .886 Save Percentage.
Maier, 23, holds the record for the most career wins in the Western Hockey League with 122 victories. He was a former standout with the Saskatoon Blades. Maier managed to compile a record of 31-23-4, with a 2.82 goals-against average and .910 save percentage in 60 out of 68 games played for the Blades last season.
In 216 career games with the Blades, Maier posted a record of 122-72-18, with a 2.89 GAA, and .905 Save Percentage. He attended the Columbus Blue Jackets Developmental Camp, but shined for the Flyers at the Rookie Camp.
