The Reading Royals, Lehigh Valley Phantoms, all Philadelphia Flyers affiliates, are really starting to trend upward. The Royals won both games last weekend, 5-4 (Saturday), and 4-3 (Sunday).
First on Saturday night, the Reading Royals played the Trois-Rivières Lions, and they won 5-4 Saturday night. I mean what more can one say, they just dominated from start to finish pretty much. The Royals got out to a 4-0 at the end of the first, and they scored their fifth goal of the game in the second stanza.
Todd Skirving settled in, while finishing with a goal and an assist.
Second Game
The Royals reversed course from Saturday’s tilt with the Trois-Rivières Lions, and fell behind 2-0 and 3-1. Keith Petruzzli kept the Royals in it, with some quality goaltending. Pertuzzli made some bell saves after bell saves to earn a much needed victory for the Royals.
Todd Skirving played one heck of a game again, as he finished the game with two goals and one assist, giving him three goals and two assist for the weekend.
They really need to start putting together some wins to stay afloat in the conference. Yes, it is a new system, sort of speak, with Jason Binkley at the helm, but the team will offer no excuses, even with the recent rash of injuries.
Hopefully, the Royals can continue their winning ways tonight against the Jacksonville Icemen.
