The Reading Royals, Lehigh Valley Phantoms and Philadelphia Flyers affiliates, had a so-so weekend this past weekend, as they won one game and fell on the second game 3-0. However, the Royals are tied for fourth place in their division with 11 points (5-6-1-0).
They played the Indy Fuel, and they were far from dominant. The weekend started off great for the Royals. They won the first game 4-2, with Sam Sedley, Lou-Felix Denis, Parker AuCoin, and Tyler Gratton each potting goals. Keith Petruzzelli won the game for the Royals, after backstopping 27 shots on 29 shots faced.
The Royals seemed to get good spirit from a fight by Lou-Felix Denis. Denis proves he is not afraid to stick up for his teammates, and that seemed to resonate well with the Royals players.
Second Game
Riding on a high from the first game against Indy Fuel, the Royals fell to the Indy Fuel 3-0 in the second tilt, and it just happened to be one of those games for the Royals. Parker Gahagen played well, and so did the five in front of him. The Royals as a team only allowed 19 shots, with Gahagen making 17 saves.
Indy Fuel’s netminder Peyton Jones recorded his second shutout of the season, while Gahagen fell to 2-4-1 on the season with a 3.32 GAA and a .880 Save Percentage.
The Royals fought and fought on the back end of a back to back against Indy Fuel, to no avail.
Hopefully, the Royals can return back to their winning ways, as they play the Maine Mariners on the road Wednesday night.
