The Reading Royals defeated the Maine Mariners 3-0 on Friday, Apr. 22 at Santander Arena, while taking a commanding 2-0 series lead in the Kelly Cup Playoffs against the Maine Mariners. Royals goaltender Logan Flodell saved all 32 shots that he faced, while Martin Brodeur’s son, Jeremy Brodeur, saved all nine shots he faced coming in relief of Callum Booth.

Flodell is on fire while making 66 saves on 68 shots faced against the Maine Mariners. The young 25-year-old in Flodell had to be good in order for the Royals to advance into the next round, and boy has he ever been. He was fresh off playing for the Belleville Senators, before playing for the Royals in the Kelly Cup Playoffs.

After a year of hiatus a proud Flyers affiliate, the Royals are back. They returned with a vengeance finishing the season with 99 points, which was 10 more than the Newfoundland Growlers. For that matter, the Royals won the Conference over the second place team in the Conference which happened to be the Newfoundland Growlers.

“We are excited to continue the partnership between the Royals and Flyers into our 20th Anniversary Season,” Royals General Manager David Farrar said before the season began. â€śWe look forward to developing more players for the Flyers while achieving the ultimate goal of winning the Kelly Cup for a second time.”
