1st Period

Jacob Gaucher kicked things off, netting his 18th of the season at 6:58. A little less than 30 seconds later Devon Paliani slid the rebound home for his 11th of the season at 7:21. Evan Barrat found twine capping off the goal-scoring in the period knocking in the cross-crease feed from Gaucher at 17:30.

2nd Period

Charlie Gerard netted the Royals’ 4th unanswered goal his 29th of the campaign just 4:17 into the period. That would be all she wrote for Tyler Harmon as he was substituted following the Gerard goal. Evan Barrat would continue his success adding to his 3rd point of the night (he would finish with 4) by slamming the puck past Sakellaropoulus at 9:31. Devon Paliani found the back of the net again firing the shot on the back door feed from Newton on the man advantage at 11:51. Michael Pelech put Atlanta on the board sliding it past Nagle shorthanded at 13:43. Brendan Hoffman but the Royals back up 6 with a quick snapshot at 17:43. Ted McGeen netted his 1st as a pro to extend the Royals’ lead to 8-1 at 19:43.

3rd Period

Atlanta’s Cody Sylvester netted his team’s leading 30th goal and the only goal of the period at 9:24. Pat Nagle stopped 16 of the 17 shots he faced in the period the Royals were outshot 17-5 in the period.

You look at how the team’s been playing lately and generating a lot of scoring chances obviously the same tonight. I guess the difference is just bearing down on those opportunities. Contributions from just about every line and I think going to the net is as simple as that is. A lot of the goals were scored from right in front of the crease and that’s a good way to put yourself in a scoring position and that’s what a lot of guys did tonight.

Head Coach James Henry Following the Win

It’s great to be playing behind a lead like that so it gives you some confidence or even if you get down a little bit early you know the guys can fight back and get some goals back get you back in the game if your having an off night, but for tonight you just try to make a few saves early to keep them going and we were rolling right off the bat.

Goaltender Pat Nagle on how big it is to have a big lead and stay composed throughout
