The London Knights smashed Oshawa last night, and finally they reached the promised land as they hoisted the J. Ross Robertson Cup after winning the OHL Championship.
As the Knights returned home to their respective area. They were met by a sea of green clad fans, cheering each member as they came off the bus after bringing home the glory. Denver Barkey was truly remarkable again last night, as he dominated Oshawa by tallying one goal and two assists.
Barkey finished the playoffs with an astounding 27 points (6g,21a) in 18 games played. He just continued his dominance from his 100 point season, and really has turned some heads with the Flyers top brass. The Flyers top brass was at most playoff games for the Knights.
What’s even more impressive, Barkey finished the playoffs with 14 Power Play points by tallying one goal and 13 assists. Barkey also finished fourth in the OHL in pooints in the playoffs with 27.
He is excellent with the man advantage, and that should help the orange and black in the future. The Flyers struggled mightily on the Power Play this past season. They had one of the league’s worst Power Play, enter a player like Barkey, a Power Play specialist to assist the orange and black at some point.
Oliver Bonk wasn’t too far behind Barkey, as he finished the playoffs with seven goals and nine assists in 18 playoff games. Both really have risen to the occasion and have taken their games to another level in crunch time, while Bonk finished second in the OHL; with six Power Play goals in the playoffs. He also registered four assists in the playoffs for a total of 10 Power Play points. Both Flyers prospects, Barkey and Bonk, appear to Power Play specialists.
With the Flyers top brass in attendance for the majority of the playoffs. Yes, I’m sure they are scouting Sam Dickinson and Sam O’ Reilly. The Flyers could very well move up to snag Dickinson, if Matvei Michkov does indeed come over and play for the orange and black next season.
What happens next is anyone’s guess, but one thing for certain is the London Knights are a powerhouse. They are a renown hockey program in the OHL, but Mark Hunter (Knights General Manager) has built a powerhouse. With Barkey and Bonk leading the way, the team now heads to the Memorial Cup.
