The Lehigh Valley Phantoms, minus Massimo Rizzo, whom had surgery on his appendix, defeated the Hershey Bears 2-1 last night. More on Rizzo, he can possibly return in six to eight weeks from the appendectomy he had to have, due to appendicitis.
Obviously, the Phantoms arch rivals are still very much a very good hockey team. This was a much-needed win for this young Phantoms Club that now sees Ethan Samson playing top 4 minutes. With a recent recall of Emil Andrae, Samson is trying to impress Phantoms Head Coach Ian Laperrière.
Cal Petersen earned the victory while backstopping 29 saves, has he appeared to be dialed in from the start. Petersen is now the go-to guy in Lehi, with Aleksei Kolosov being recalled to the Flyers.
Helge Grans scored a big goal against Hershey, and he has really transformed his game from the year prior. He was one of the last cuts at Flyers training camp, and he is really built off that momentum. Grans is seizing an opportunity to move up the pipeline depth wise defensively for the orange and black.
Jacob Gaucher also scored for the Phantoms, lifting them to an eventual 2-1 much needed victory. They will have to continue this momentum this weekend.
