The Lehigh Valley Phantoms have been up and down like a roller coaster all season long, with winning one game and losing the next, and so on. The Phantoms just have trouble mustering back to back victories, but that’s exactly what transpired this past weekend.

In case some were not paying attention. The Phantoms won back to back games, on Friday and Saturday respectively, but they lost a heartbreaker to the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins on Sunday.

Fortunately, Friday night started out strong against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins with a 3-2 shootout victory, courtesy of Rodrigo Abols. Abols just plays the game so calmly and profoundly, as he netted a key assist on Samu Tuomaala’s first goal of the night for the Phantoms.

Abols wanted revenge on the Penguins, and that’s what he achieved. He skated down the ice calmly in the shootout, and woolah he scored the game winner. Abols really hasn’t pressed with his time back with the Thanos, but he should be recalled by Wednesday for practice with the Flyers

Game 2 (Syracuse Crunch)

The Phantoms got a much needed victory over Syracuse. Alexis Gendron continues his solid season with two goals, including the game winner. Gendron has seemed to find his scoring niche, and it would be nice to see him get recalled this week with the big club.

At one point few weeks ago, the Phantoms were beaten and battered with injuries, most notably Anthony Richard, who missed about a month with an injury. Richard potted a big goal in this tilt, giving him one goal and one assist for the weekend thus far.

Game 3 (Wilkes-Barre)

It’s only fitting to play your arch rival for the second time on the weekend, but unfortunately the third game of the weekend.

They came out very flat, and trailed 3-0 with the blank of an eye. Rodrigo Abols had a day again, as he tried to bring the Phantoms back. For Abols efforts, he scored a big goal, and Abols registered an assist, to complete this weekend with one goal and three assists..

Helge Grans made things interesting with netting a goal, with a little over 6 minutes left in third period to bring the score to 4-3. Adding muscle (Bigger and stronger) is usually the common theme of young prospects at his age of 22. They can be a bit raw, but fill out in a year to two years. Grans loves to shoot the puck when he gets the opportunity, and he does not shy away from physicality.

The Phantoms just ran out of gas, and gave their all in the spirited 4-3 loss.
